Homelessness is an enormous problem, especially in the United States of America. I was around 13 years old when I visited San Francisco, which left me speechless. So many people were living on the streets. And so many of them were being ignored. Unfortunately, this is still happening. Even though they need(ed) that small and kind gesture. So I wanted to motivate society to give a small and kind gesture to the homeless, through design. Luckily, I achieved this goal while also collaborating with MNRC: Mission Neighborhood Health Center. A center which goal it is to help the homeless people as well, with providing health care, food, drinks, events, shower and washing facilities, and much more. However, I would like to add that this project has been created by no one else but me.

This project contains postermagazines (A2) that are being hung on public and outside walls, at places where it would be most busy, and when it would be most busy. For example: nearby restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. during lunch hours. Obviously, it'd also be placed where the homeless people are at.

These postermagazines would focus on the humanity of the homeless people, as they are being viewed as dangerous criminals and animals. Despite the fact that they are just as human as us, as you. A video, which you can scan the QR-code with your phone, shows this as well with me asking the homeless people questions to bring out their humanity. Questions like: "Wat did your first love look like?" and "How would people describe you?" There's also a page with a black rectangle where a mirror would be placed in real life and you would see yourself. Additionally, research showed that a lot of people don't really know what kind of small and kind gesture they would give to the homeless people. Which is why there's also a page that tells you exactly what you can do.

Some volunteers would be standing alongside the project to also gift out some bars and/or drinks, so you can turn the given theory by this project into practice. There are questions on these bars and drinks so, if you'd like to, you can get a conversation going with the homeless people, which they'd appreciate enormously. If this is too big of a step for you, you could also donate instead.
